Mark Albiston is an award-winning filmmaker whose work has earned jury prizes at Cannes, Sundance, and Berlin, and whose commercials have been recognized at Cannes, D&AD, Creative Circle, Spikes, Caanz AXIS, AdFest, and The One Show.
His first feature film, 'Shopping', followed the success of his acclaimed short films 'Run' and 'The Six Dollar Fifty Man', both of which won jury prizes at Cannes. 'The Six Dollar Fifty Man' also took home Best International Short at Sundance, and both films went on to collect numerous awards at festivals worldwide. 'Shopping' premiered in competition at Sundance and later won the Grand Prix for Best Feature in the Generation 14plus International section at the Berlinale.
Mark’s most recent short film, 'Datsun', serves as a proof of concept for his upcoming feature 'The Blood Moon', currently in development with the New Zealand Film Commission. 'Datsun' had its European premiere at the Berlinale and its North American premiere at SXSW, before going on to win Best International Short at the Guanajuato International Film Festival in Mexico. The film enjoyed a highly successful festival run, winning Best Short, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Cinematography at multiple other festivals.
