Janicza Bravo is an acclaimed filmmaker and director known for her bold, innovative storytelling across film, television, and immersive media. Her career began with the VICE-produced short 'Eat!' (2011), starring Katherine Waterston and Brett Gelman, followed by the Sundance Grand Jury Prize–winning short 'Gregory Go Boom' (2014), which earned her recognition as one of Filmmaker Magazine’s '25 New Faces of Independent Cinema'.
Originally trained in theater at NYU, Janicza embraces experimentation and new forms. Her VR short 'Hard World for Small Things' premiered at Sundance in 2016 and was featured in Tribeca’s Virtual Arcade. She has directed episodes of acclaimed series including 'The Bear', 'Atlanta', 'Divorce', and 'Dear White People'. Her feature 'Zola' (2020) premiered at Sundance to critical acclaim and garnered an Independent Spirit Award nomination.
Janicza has also directed high-profile branded content and fashion films, including Gucci’s 'The Performer' and Miu Miu’s 'House Comes With a Bird', as well as episodes for FX’s Kindred and Peacock’s Poker Face, cementing her reputation as a versatile storyteller at the intersection of cinema, culture, and innovation.
