Ben Strebel is a U.K.-based director whose style blends cinematic realism with a surreal twist. He creates a vivid, filmic canvas to tell human stories, expanding and diversifying the viewer’s perception of the world. With a strong focus on storytelling, casting, technical prowess, and cinematography, he brings his subjects to life.
Working across music videos, original content, and commercials, Ben has developed a diverse portfolio of critically acclaimed work, earning awards including Gold and Bronze Cannes Lions, a Young Directors Award, and D&AD Pencils. His work spans fashion content for Vivienne Westwood; commercials for Nike, Lexus, Nissan, Apple, Adidas, BMW, DeLeón, Jägermeister, Samsonite, EE x iPhone, and Virgin Atlantic; and music videos including the award-winning 'Butterflies' for Skrillex featuring Starrah & Four Tet.
Ben also created a striking two-minute film for the 'British Heart Foundation', voiced by Cillian Murphy, advocating for medical research and innovation. His award-winning collaborations with 'Make My Money Matter' include 'The Hidden Relationship,' starring Game of Thrones on-screen lovers turned real-life married couple Kit Harington and Rose Leslie, and 'Beep,' starring Ambika Mod. Using searingly dark wit, these films call out U.K. banks for financing fossil fuel companies that are destroying the planet.
Most recently, Ben completed the short film 'Acts of Kindness' (2025), starring Mia Tharia ('Klara and the Sun') and Sam Spruell ('The Thing with Feathers', 'Fargo', 'The Settlers', 'Legend'). Written by playwright Cordelia Lynn and based on Ben’s original idea, the film marks his latest narrative work.
